ALTO, Texas — An Alto teenager is being recognized for his bravery after stepping in during a violent confrontation at a local gas station.

18-year-old Jamarion Rollins received the Citizen Courage Award from the Alto Police Department during a city council meeting this week. The honor comes after Rollins intervened in a stabbing at the Texaco on South Marcus Street on July 24, an act police say may have saved a man’s life.

According to investigators, Rollins placed himself between the victim and the attacker, stopping the assault from escalating.
