WAILUKU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The man accused of killing a Maui police officer has pleaded not guilty.

Clembert Alii Kaneholani, 38, is accused of fatally shooting Officer O as she and other officers were responding to a terroristic threatening call in Paia on Aug. 15.

Kaneholani, a convicted felon, is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, and multiple firearms offenses.

He pleaded not guilty to those charges in court Wednesday afternoon.

Law expert Joanne Hicks – who is not affiliated with this case – has both experience as a prosecutor and a defense attorney.
