A candidate for Groveland City Council is facing serious charges after police say a road rage incident turned violent.

Jim O’Neil was arrested Aug. 22 and charged with false imprisonment and aggravated battery following a confrontation with his neighbor, according to Groveland police. Latest Forecast

Michael Trentadue, who identified himself as the victim, told reporters the encounter happened in the Trilogy subdivision where both men live.

Trentadue said he's been living in the subdivision, taking care of his parents. He said he was leaving town when he realized he had forgotten something at home. Trentadue said he put his car in reverse to return when a vehicle came up quickly behind him, flashing its lights and honking.
