A cyclist has been hospitalised with serious injuries after a crash on a Aberdeenshire road.

The collision involving a cyclist and a white Peugeot Partner van happened at around 12.30pm yesterday (Wednesday, Augusyt 27) on the B9000 Pitmedden to Newburgh Road near Logierieve.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and the 51-year-old male cyclist was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where his condition is described as serious.

There were no reports of any other injuries following the incident.

The road was closed for around six hours to allow for investigations to be carried out.
