CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was shot multiple times by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police after allegedly opening fire on the officers in southeast Charlotte early Thursday, investigators said.

CMPD have identified him as 20-year-old Benny Belvin Hall IV. He remains hospitalized in stable condition. Detectives have obtained warrants for his arrest, charging him with attempted murder on a law enforcement officer, assault on a government official with a firearm, and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

CMPD said officers responded to a call to assist Medic along Pineborough Road, which is just off Monroe Road, around 2 a.m.
