UK households have been urged to "take up" the government's latest offer, as the period of funded childcare is extended from Monday, September 1.

Working parents in England will be able to access 30 hours of paid for childcare if their child is older than nine months old.

This is a change from the previous guidance which stipulated working parents of children over the above age were able to access 15 hours of funded childcare a week during term time.

The 15 hours initiative is still currently ongoing, prior to the full 30 hour rollout next week.

The expansion of funded childcare – which was introduced by the Conservative government – began being rolled out in England in April last year for working parents of two-year-olds.
