INDIANAPOLIS – Tens of thousands of Americans will hit the roads or take to the skies for the Labor Day holiday weekend.

It’s traditionally one of the busiest travel weekends of the year as people try to squeeze in one last vacation before the end of summer.

“It is another kind of big, last hurrah summer,” said Christina Griffiths with AAA Hoosier Motor Club. “So, there are a lot of people that are going to be taking some road trips, especially or even some day trips closer into the area.”

According to AAA, the best times to travel are Thursday before 1 p.m. and Monday before 12 p.m. The busiest times are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Regardless of the day, the roads tend to see the most congestion in the afternoon and early evening hours.
