M&S is currently celebrating the birthday of one of its most iconic characters; Colin the Caterpillar. The classic kids' birthday cake has been on the shelves since 1990, making the chocolate icon 35 years old. ‌

But the high-end supermarket's long-time nemesis company just had to chime in with a cheeky comeback. Years after a drawn-out legal dispute over the two chains' similar caterpillar cakes, Aldi seemingly can't help itself. ‌

Marks and Spencer took action against its budget rival, accusing them of copying Colin's design with their own Cuthbert. Aldi took its cake off the shelves but the supermarkets reached a settlement in the intellectual property dispute and Colin returned, with a slightly changed design. ‌
