Some Chattanoogans may notice their recycling trucks have a new look.
The city has introduced its first compressed natural gas (CNG) recycling trucks, making its fleet more eco-friendly and sustainable.
“These trucks have been used all across the country, and we are proud to get our two—they’re on the road working right now,” said Errol Williams with Chattanooga Public Works.
Until now, the city’s vehicles have run on diesel or gasoline — fuels that are both more expensive and more toxic.
Public Works officials say the new trucks are part of a larger push toward greener operations and support Mayor Tim Kelly’s One Chattanooga Plan around sustainability.
