GRAND FORKS — Grand Forks Red River gathered for its final meeting of the 2024 season with the loss to West Fargo Horace in the North Dakota Division AA championship still fresh in its mind.

After addressing the entire team, head coach Vyrn Muir dismissed the seniors. He had a message for the younger players slated to assume the mantle of leadership in 2025.

“I told the juniors, ‘You guys have done a lot of watching and following these guys,’” Muir said. “When I say watching, I mean watching them lead, and watching how they do things in the weight room, how they approach practice, what they’re doing out and about off the field and everything.

“And I said, ‘But now it’s time, you guys gotta start doing.’ ”
