LANSING – A woman is in critical condition after she was found shot inside her vehicle on Interstate 96 in Lansing early on Aug. 28.

Lansing police responded shortly before 4 a.m. to an area of the freeway between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Cedar Street for a report of a vehicle in the median, Sgt. Dustin Belill said.

When they arrived, they found a woman in the driver’s seat with a gunshot wound to the back of her head. She was transported to a Lansing area hospital and was listed in critical condition.

Belill said the investigation is continuing and officers are working to determine what led to the shooting, including a possible road rage shooting.
