A recent article (news.bloomberglaw.com/health-law-and-business/drug-savings-doubted-for-colorado-as-state-nears-first-pay-cap) questioning whether Colorado’s drug price cap will help patients underscores an important point: price-setting schemes, including MFN policies, rarely solve the problem. The complexity and delays in these approaches often leave patients waiting for relief that never comes. Making matters worse, these policies do nothing to fix the current problems in our health-care system, I know that things aren’t working like they should be.
A program that already exists and could provide immediate relief is the 340B Drug Discount Program. This federal program is designed to allow hospitals in low-income and underserved areas to buy drugs at a discounted rate and pass those sa
