DENVER (KDVR) — Deputies and detectives are investigating a reported homicide in the Chaparral Village community in Thornton.
On Thursday morning, just before 5 a.m., the Adams County Sheriff's Office posted on X that deputies are in the area of East 88th Avenue and Welby Road, west of Pelican Ponds Open Space, working on an "active investigation of a homicide."
The sheriff's office said it's a "very active scene," and Welby Road is closed from East 86th Avenue to East 88th Avenue. Drivers should find alternate routes.
The sheriff's office said it's an "active investigation." At this time, it's unclear if there is a suspect, who the victim is and when this took place. Officials also did not say how many victims there were.
