On a team that doesn’t boast a lot of depth at any position, the Titans have a position battle that is actually creating some depth at an unexpected position.

Tennessee signed linebacker Cody Barton from Denver to run the defense on the field and wear the green dot, meaning the player who is allowed to communicate with his sidelines via radio.

But the battle to see who would man the second spot alongside Barton has made for interesting viewing.

Converted safety James Williams, a seventh-round pick last year from Miami, got nearly all the first-team reps throughout OTAs, minicamp and even in the first week or so of training camp.
