Edinburgh police remain at scene 12 hours after street locked down in 'disturbance'

Edinburgh police remain at the scene hours after a street was locked down in a 'late night' disturbance.

Images taken from Restalrig Avenue around 1pm, show officers in attendance as inquiries continue. Several ambulances and police vehicles descended on the street around 1am on August 28.

A cordon was erected across the road with the public urged to avoid the area.

It comes after reports of a disturbance at a property and a 55-year-old man has been arrested in connection.

A section of the street outside a newsagents can be seen taped off with two officers standing guard on both sides. It is currently unknown if any injuries have been reported following the incident.

An eye witness told us: "Large ambulance and police presence at Restalrig Avenue right now 01:35am. The road is closed
