Summer is well and truly drawing to a close as the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain. The warning, which covers all of London, begins at 10pm this evening (Thursday, August 28) and ends at noon tomorrow (Friday, August 29).
This is a dreary end to an otherwise brilliant summer where thermostats were known to pass the 30C mark. We should brace ourselves for adverse effects on public transport, particularly delays.
Drivers should expect flooded roads, and there is also the possibility of homes getting flooded. Of what to expect, the weather authority said: "Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer. Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer. Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely."
