Sandy Hook Promise, a nonprofit created to help keep kids safe from gun violence following the Sandy Hook school shooting, says their hearts are with the families in Minneapolis.

“My heart is breaking for these for these families and for that community right now,” Mark Barden, co-founder of Sandy Hook Promise, said.

He knows too well the pain that comes after a tragic shooting like the one in Minneapolis that took the lives of at least two children . Barden lost his son in the Sandy Hook shooting.

“It's not normal. It's not acceptable,” he said.
