The La Center Arts Council has been looking for a permanent home since its inception in 2023, and it won’t stop until it finds one.

“Every single one of our members is super passionate,” council Director Krissy DuBois said. “We want to keep the momentum. Sometimes, you have to pivot, but you keep moving.”

The group may have to pivot once again if its most recent effort to find a facility continues to stall. At the La Center City Council’s Aug. 13 meeting, DuBois said negotiations with the city to lease the building colloquially known as “the old City Hall”had reached an impasse.

“We were disappointed with the proposed cost of the old City Hall building,” At this time, it is beyond our means.” DuBois said. “We … hope that the city is willing to work with us in this position.”
