Tom Cleverley has ruled out adding another defender to his Plymouth Argyle squad before the transfer deadline on Monday after there was speculation the club had interest in signing their former centre-back Dan Scarr from Wrexham.

Reading have also been linked with the 30-year-old, who was part of the Pilgrims' 2022/23 League One title winning team before later joining Wrexham in August 2024.

Scarr has not been in Wrexham's squad for any of their first three Championship games this season but he has started their two Carabao Cup ties, including the 3-2 second round win away to Preston North End on Tuesday. Another ex-Pilgrim, Ryan Hardie, opened the scoring for the Welsh side in that match.
