The former Mesa County Sheriff’s deputy being sued by the state of Colorado over the sharing of information that led to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detaining a 19-year-old college student from Utah has denied violating state law during the traffic stop that led to the student’s detainment.
Investigator Alexander Zwinck has submitted his resignation from the Sheriff’s Office.
Zwinck pulled over Caroline Dias Goncalves on June 5 near Loma, then shared her information with a group chat containing federal agents, which led to her being stopped later and detained on a visa issue. Western Colorado
