As Ontario’s Liberal Critic for Agriculture and Rural Affairs , Kingston and the Islands Member of Provincial Parliament Ted Hsu is warning that reviving a dormant landfill near Dresden, being revitalized by the Mississauga company YORK1, could have environmental consequences for local residents and First Nations.
“The landfill is pretty close to Dresden. It’s less than a kilometer from town, and there’s a creek that runs through the landfill site, that drains into the Sydenham River,” Hsu said in an interview with the Whig. “Wallaceburg and other communities … including Walpole Island First Nation, are concerned about that.”
