SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - A 5-year-old girl remains in critical condition after being swept into a storm drain when a water main burst in Sarasota on Aug. 24.

An incident report states the young girl was found about 200 yards west of where she was last seen before disappearing into fast-moving water.

The report says the child had been playing in a ditch under the supervision of her grandmother when she was pulled into the drain. A nearby water main break increased the suction.

The grandmother made a frantic 911 call telling emergency personnel about the accident.
