CRAWFORD CO .— A traffic stop early Wednesday morning culminated in the arrests of two Marengo residents following a months-long investigation into alleged drug activity in the Carefree area of Crawford County.

The Indiana State Police and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office had been receiving tips for several months regarding drug activity. On Wednesday, August 27, at approximately 12:44 a.m., Trooper Jon Villanueva and Deputy Tyler Smith conducted a traffic stop that led to the investigation.

During the stop, officers observed signs of criminal activity and requested the assistance of Deputy Gary Nale and his K-9 partner, Remy. The K-9 gave a positive indication on the vehicle, but a search of the car did not turn up any contraband.
