Everyone knows the headliners for the Michigan Wolverines — Bryce Underwood, Rod Moore, Rayshaun Benny and Derrick Moore are often the first players mentioned by fans and pundits alike, with kicker Dominic Zvada not far behind. But as we know, it’s the less heralded players that can make all the difference during the season.

Think of D.J. Turner in 2021. No one mentioned him before the season, but he quickly became Michigan’s best corner by the end. Running back Isaiah Gash in 2022 is another. With the game on the line, Michigan went to Gash out of the backfield to convert a critical fourth down to set up a game-winning field goal to beat Illinois. Or either transfer corner — Josh Wallace, Aamir Hall — from the last two seasons.
