MONTICELLO, Ill. (WCIA) -- People in Piatt county gathered together Wednesday night to grieve those whose lives have been taken by drug overdoses.
The county's Recovery-Oriented System of Care (ROSC) team hosted a candlelight vigil. Organizers said this event aims to honor people who lost their battle with drug addiction and to reduce stigma around the disease.
Organizers also had a message for someone who is struggling and doesn't know what to do:
"There's hope," said Piatt count R.O.S.C. coordinator Tia Schum. "And you just got to reach out. And we don't want anybody to feel like they're alone in their recovery or in their grief of the loss of their loved one."
