There’s only one Mark left in the hard-charging band The Skidmarks, and that is musician Mark Lockwood.

His tenacity in keeping the band together pays off Friday when The Skidmarks present their 30th anniversary performance at The Malemute Saloon starting at 7:30 p.m. The night is the Malemute’s last Friday of the season.

“It’s all about having fun,” Lockwood said. The band was named The Skidmarks because it once contained a number of musicians named Mark. That changed over the years.

The band bills itself as a house-rocking’ blues band. Their set list pulls heavily from R&B standards, traditional blues, jump blues and good ‘ole rock ‘n roll.

“We’re trying to preserve the craft and the art,” Lockwood said.
