Students at an Atlantic County school district will be able to catch some extra sleep this academic year after later start times were approved Aug. 26.
Members of the Pleasantville Public School District 's board of education motioned to pass recommendations from Superintendent Marilyn Martinez for a new schedule ahead of the school year's Sept. 4 start date.
This new timetable would have some schools in the district starting as late as 8:55 a.m.
"We've made some moderate adjustments to the schedule. We had conversations the last time, and we listened to those who spoke," Martinez said during her report.
Discussions about proposed school start times had taken place at a board meeting Aug. 12 when parents expressed their concerns during the public comment portion.
