COLUMBUS — The Ohio Supreme Court on Thursday unanimously rejected an attempt by a Sylvania Township trustee to oust a fellow board member he claimed was illegally appointed to a vacancy last year.

The high court found that elected Trustee John Jennewine does not have the authority to challenge the legitimacy of the appointment of Jill Johnson once she had taken the oath and assumed the duties of trustee.

The court refused to order Lucas County Probate Judge Jack Puffenberger to make a new appointment to the position after Mr. Jennewine argued Ms. Johnson had not been properly appointed to the seat vacated by John H. Crandall on July 1, 2024.
