Kristaps Porzingis is back on the floor after dealing with the lingering effects of a viral illness in his final days with the Celtics . The seven-footer suited up for Latvia on Wednesday in the team’s EuroBasket opener but faced a stiff test against a Turkey squad with emerging Rockets center Alperen Sengun. Porzingis struggled on both ends against the big man, recording just 10 points and four rebounds on 3-of-12 shooting from the field, He also missed all five of his 3-point attempts.
The encouraging sign for Porzingis was that he was able to stay on the floor for 25 minutes after seeing action in exhibition games leading up to the group play opener. However, he was soundly outplayed by Sengun, who erupted for 16 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists in an 88-65 blowout win for Turkey.
