AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - We’re learning more about a fire that damaged vehicles at a local auto dealership.

The fire broke out Wednesday evening near Jim Hudson Automotive Group on Washington Road.

Our crews on the scene observed multiple burned cars.

Georgia mayor, ex-trooper found guilty of vehicular homicide

A.J. Scott was a Georgia state trooper when he was involved in a 2015 crash that killed two teens and injured two others.

Firefighters on the scene told News 12 a preliminary investigation indicated an electric car started the fire.

Two cars were counted as total losses, and there was superficial damage to others.

Other cars were moved out of the way.

Crews were able to fight much of the fire, but they had to wait for a lithium battery to burn out on its own.
