Morristown East had little trouble in winning its first encounter with cross-town rival West, capturing a straight set victory Tuesday afternoon at Michael R. Reed Gymnasium.

The Lady Hurricanes racked up their first district win and second of the season by putting down a West rally to win the opening set 27-25 before rolling to 25-10 and 25-14 victories.

Seniors Hannah Hall, Riley Forester and Tori Johnson led the Lady Hurricanes.

Hall racked up 17 kills, 13 digs and three aces while Forester had nine kills, and nine digs and served four aces. Johnson handed out 29 assists and also had 9 digs.

Reagan Atkins chipped in four kills and three aces while Addison Young had three kills and seven digs. Marley Epps recorded 10 digs and Mallorie Wilson added eight.
