RED OAK, N.C. (WITN) - A bridge connecting two Eastern Carolina counties is to be upgraded soon, with a replacement installed.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation has announced that the bridge connecting Nash and Halifax counties over Fishing Creek will be replaced with a modern span. The updated bridge will be at its same location, northwest of Red Oak, but will take about two years to complete.
The DOT says a temporary bridge will be installed during the construction.
This project was contracted to S.T. Wooten for $4.2 million and will begin later in the fall.
