MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WV News) — Monongalia County Schools will break ground in September on a new addition to the Monongalia County Technical Education Center that will feature a Digital Innovation Center and new programming for middle school students.

The project, funded through a combination of West Virginia School Building Authority funds and county matching funds, is expected to be completed in time for the 2026-27 school year.

The new facility will include classrooms and labs two to three times larger than existing ones at MTEC. They will be designed to accommodate esports competitions, robotics, cybersecurity programs and other technology-driven learning experiences.
