CLAREMONT, N.H. —
A temporary superintendent is in place in Claremont as a new school year begins while the district grapples with a budget shortfall that put the first day of school in question.
The school district's attorney has said that the district might not have enough money to stay open past September because of a multimillion-dollar deficit.
Temporary Superintendent Patrick O'Hearn said he's confident the district will be able to keep the doors open for at least the next six months.
"There have been a lot of efforts underway over the last several weeks to ensure we're able to open," O'Hearn said. "So, it's a big sense of relief, a big sigh, for the community."
