MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Officials at Memphis International Airport are preparing for an increase in passengers during the Labor Day weekend travel period.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is forecasting an estimated 48,000 passengers to pass through the security checkpoints at Memphis International between Thursday, August 28th and Tuesday, September 2nd.

The busiest travel day is expected to be Friday, August 29th - with the TSA expecting more than 9,500 people to pass through security.

Airport officials are urging passengers to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their scheduled departure time and check in with their airline online prior to arrival - to avoid any potential problems.
