With the Mount Underwood wildfire near Port Alberni now “being held,” the city has lowered water restrictions to Stage 1.

On Aug. 15, Port Alberni imposed Stage 3 restrictions on the city’s water infrastructure due to ongoing concerns surrounding the wildfire.

Stage 3 regulations included alternating watering schedules at specific times, prohibiting the filling and topping up of pools, hot tubs, ponds, and other aquatic features, as well as vehicle washing and pressure washing, except for health and safety purposes.

On Aug. 27, the stage one water restrictions were re-implemented, many of which ease the strict guidelines that were put in place for stage three.

Stage one restrictions include: • Odd-numbered addresses may water on odd-numbered calendar days, and even-numbered addresses
