JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - A section of a busy highway is temporarily closed while crews respond to a reported hazmat situation.
I-70 at milepost 258, and Highway 40 from milepost 283 to milepost 285 were closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, troopers responded at 7:51 a.m. to I-70 near milepost 258 for a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) fire. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says a semi truck was leaking hazardous materials.
Deputies said a tanker carrying hydrochloric acid started leaking on the highway. There was no reported crash or injuries. Deputies said hazmat crews responded.
