WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — In response to hundreds of job cuts aimed at balancing the district's budget, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools is planning a reverse career fair to help impacted staff connect with new employment opportunities.

The event, announced earlier this week during a school board meeting by interim Superintendent Catty Moore, is scheduled for Sept. 4. The district is still in the planning stages but expects to welcome outside organizations, including neighboring school systems, in an effort to support employees affected by the reduction in force.

The job cuts stem from the district’s effort to save $18 million to balance its budget for the current school year.
