PENDLETON, S.C. (WBTV) - A student at a South Carolina college died during class on Wednesday evening.
Sister-station reported that the student -- 48-year-old Elaine Joyce Joseph -- suddenly became unresponsive during an Aug. 27 phlebotomy class at Tri-County Technical College’s Pendleton campus.
Joseph was reportedly participating normally before the medical event, and the teacher and fellow students immediately began CPR. Paramedics were called in and also attempted to save her but were unsuccessful.
The Anderson County Coroner’s Office told WHNS that no foul play was suspected in the Joseph’s death and that the cause was under investigation by local and state authorities.
