UPTOWN — Newsstands stocked with naloxone, a medication that can reverse opioid overdoses, are now up and offering the medication to free to anyone in Uptown and Lakeview.

Four old newsstands in the area have been repurposed for the new city initiative. The medication, best known by its brand name, Narcan, is administered through a nasal spray and can reverse the deadly effects of opioids, including fentanyl.

The four stands are available at: the Department of Family and Support Services at 845 W. Wilson Ave., Nourishing Hope’s location at 3945 N. Sheridan Road, Cornerstone Community Shelter at 4628 N. Clifton Ave. and the Institute of Cultural Affairs at 4750 N. Sheridan Road.
