MUSKEGON, MI – After nearly 30 years, a man serving life in prison for his role in a brutal drug-related slaying will one day have a chance at freedom.
William Vincon Madison was 18 years old in 1997 when he and two others killed their former friend, 19-year-old Tawone Love.
A Muskegon County jury later convicted Madison of first-degree murder, and he was sentenced to life without possibility of parole.
Madison, now 46, was back in a Muskegon County courtroom on Thursday, Aug. 28, because of a 2022 decision by the Michigan Supreme Court that found it unconstitutional to sentence 18-year-old offenders to prison without the possibility of parole.
