TALLMADGE TOWNSHIP, MI – An 82-year-old Allendale man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a Wednesday crash in Ottawa County has died, according to the local sheriff’s office.

The man was a passenger in a Nissan Rogue as it headed east on Lake Michigan Drive at around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27. The vehicle’s driver, a 79-year-old woman also from Allendale, attempted to turn left on to Eighth Avenue when the vehicle collided with a westbound Chevrolet Silverado.

Both vehicles came to a rest at the intersection’s northwest corner, police said. At the time first responders arrived, the 82-year-old was unresponsive and had to be extricated before he was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.
