NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A man who is accused of kidnapping and abusing his ex-girlfriend while driving around Nashville in 2022 was arrested this week and faces serious charges.

According to an arrest affidavit, officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department were called to the Walmart parking lot at 4040 Nolensville Pike and found a woman sitting in the back of a security vehicle.

The woman told the officer that she had just escaped from her ex-boyfriend, who had kidnapped her three days before from Huntsville, Alabama, the affidavit states.

Her ex, 37-year-old Darius Benford, had fled the scene before the officers arrived.
