NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A fare increase will kick in on Metro-North services in Connecticut starting on Monday, Sept. 1.
The 5% increase impacts the Metro-North New Haven, New Canaan, Danbury, and Waterbury Branch Lines, the CTrail Hartford Line, and Shore Line East services.
The fare hike was determined by the Connecticut Department of Transportation and required a green light from the MTA’s board.
“These fare increases will help maintain existing rail service levels by keeping the same number of trains on the schedule for our customers,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto.
There will be an additional 5% fare increase on those lines effective July 1, 2026. The proposed changes were approved on July 30.
