BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Claire’s, the popular mall boutique chain known for its jewelry and accessories for tweens and teens, will be closing its store at Mercer Mall in Bluefield as part of the company’s nationwide restructuring.
The closure comes after Claire’s Holdings LLC filed for bankruptcy earlier this month and announced it had sold its North American business to private equity firm Ames Watson for $104 million.
According to a court filing on Aug. 25, Claire’s plans to shutter more than 290 stores, including 235 Claire’s locations across the U.S. and 56 of its Icing stores. Another 830 stores are expected to remain open for now.
While no closing date has been released, the Mercer Mall location is the only Claire’s store in West Virginia currently listed among the closures. C
