ARCADIA, Fla. ( WWSB ) – A man in Arcadia was arrested on attempted kidnapping charges after police say he tried to grab a child playing in a neighborhood near Sunset Avenue on Aug. 20.

According to the Arcadia Police Department, 36-year-old Adam Payton South allegedly approached children playing basketball near Sunset Avenue and Bridle Path around 7:39 p.m. that evening.

A victim told police South was wearing latex gloves when he walked toward them, reached out, and said, “Come here,” while trying to grab him. The child said he ran home in fear, with South allegedly close behind, before South stopped near the yard.
