ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - An Alexandria family is asking for help after a tree fell on their rental home, leaving the house unlivable.
Shaundrika Duncan said she first thought the noise was a break-in.
“I heard a loud noise, a loud bang,” Duncan said. “Then that’s when they were saying the tree was in the house.”
The tree crashed through the roof in the middle of the night. Insulation and debris covered the inside of the home. Duncan’s daughter’s room took the worst of the damage.
“If we wouldn’t have moved their beds, it would have fell on my daughter and my baby girl,” Duncan said. “I don’t know how I could have really took that.”
Duncan said the experience traumatized her children, who now have therapy scheduled. Her oldest daughter, Skylar Reed, remembers the fear of that night.
