A petition launched on Change.org is calling for urgent sepsis reform in Ontario birthing units following the death of GTA physiotherapist Ravinder Kaur Sidhu in June.
Gurinder Sidhu, her husband, started the petition a month ago saying his wife died four days after giving birth at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga following what he describes as a 30-hour delay in receiving antibiotics after developing signs of sepsis.
“Four days after giving birth to our baby boy, Ravinder died,” he writes on the petition. “She never returned home to the family she adored.
Since its launch, the petition has been signed by over 7,850 people.
Gurinder shared that his wife developed a 39.2 C fever, began shaking, and experienced low blood pressure while in the postpartum unit.
