Earlier this week President Trump attempted to “fire” Lisa Cook, a Federal Reserve Governor, although it is far from clear that he has the legal authority to do so. This was a first time a president has tried to fire a central bank governor in its 111-year history. The person he is trying to fire is a Black woman. She could only be fired for cause, but while he charges her with personal financial impropriety, she has not been charged with a crime , nor have any charges been leveled related to impropriety in her professional duties.
