Boeing is seeking approval from the European Commission to proceed with the acquisition of aircraft component manufacturer Spirit AeroSystems , which Boeing sold two decades ago. The $4.7 billion deal will see the two manufacturers come together to align Boeing’s commercial production systems.
The deal was recently given the green light by the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) after a formal antitrust investigation . The CMA found that the merger will not result in a substantial lessening of competition within the market. Boeing will also hope to receive a green light from the EU.
Clearing Regulatory Hurdles
As reported by Reuters, documents on the European Commission's website showed that the manufacturer is looking to Europe to approve the acquisition. The EU ex
